Our first grade classes learned about ocean habitats and how ocean animals use external features to survive in their environment. We took a closer look at an octopus by identifying its tentacles, beak, and suction cups. We used dye to show how it shoots ink through its siphon as a defense mechanism. We also made a blubber glove to demonstrate how whales stay warm in their frigid environment. So much fun in first grade:)
