Mr. Hope’s math classes were hard at work this week using a large marker board to problem solve and share their thinking. Students are encouraged to solve math equations and word problems using number sense and a variety of strategies. Learning from each other is essential to them growing and learning new skills.
In Mrs. May’s science and social studies classes, she is also using group discussion and strategies that get students talking and learning from each other. In these pictures, students are using the fishbowl strategy where they all gather together to look at an example and have the author or creator explain their thinking. Students can ask questions and give feedback. In another class, the students were acting as a player and a coach when discussing their thinking.
