Black History Month

Eastside celebrated Black History Month by reading and learning about some of the most influential people who changed our history.

ALL classrooms were given a book highlighting an individual that overcome adversity and who made a change. Students were challenged to compare and contrast individuals, find the theme or overall message of the book. Some students looked at Character Traits and Motivation, while others wrote about overcoming their own adversity. Mrs. Gordon, our art teacher, used the hallway to recreate a silhouette of Maya Angelou. It was a wonderful learning opportunity for students to dig deep into our history.
